Starting out in the wild world of online dating is like navigating a treasure map where “X” marks the spot, but instead of gold, you might find a bunch of questionable selfies and a few too many “adventurous” types who think a weekend camping trip means sleeping in their car.
With so many apps and profiles to sift through, it’s easy to feel like you’ve stumbled into an amusement park where every ride is a gamble. But just like any epic adventure, it all begins with that first brave step. For me, that step led to an unexpected treasure: Mike!
We often joke about how lucky we are to have been in the online dating pool at the same time. It’s like we both showed up to the same party, and the universe was like, “Surprise! Here’s your perfect plus one!”
Sometimes we ponder what life would have been like if we’d met ten years ago. Or would we have just missed each other like two ships passing in the night, both too busy trying to figure out which app to swipe right on?
Sure, it’s a little sad to think about all those years we could have spent together, but then again, everything seems to have fallen into place just when it was meant to. It’s like the universe was holding out on us, waiting for the perfect moment to deliver this delightful surprise.

I’m am grateful that he embraces my quirks—my crazy side, and even those moments when I transform into a human rain cloud. (I’m used to bottling everything up and pretending to be strong, but now I can cry because I have him. I can feel sad, I can be weak—I don’t need to be superwoman anymore).
We’re all a little different, and it’s amazing to find someone who loves our unique oddities. It feels like discovering the one puzzle piece that doesn’t give you a headache trying to fit it in.
Our shared love for obscure movies also adds to our unique connection, which has blossomed into something special called love. It creates a bond stronger than my morning coffee—one that’s rich with humor and sparks, where we can both embrace our eccentricities without fear.

Just remember: Consider factors like age range, interests, and relationship type when selecting an app. Some popular options include Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, and Match among others.

Your online profile is essentially your digital calling card, so make sure it dazzles! We’re talking about the kind of profile that grabs attention faster than a cat video in your feed. Highlight your quirks, interests, and values—because no one wants to date a bland, generic description like “I like long walks.”

Continuation of Our First In-person Date in the City (5th Day)
Welcome to The Residences at BCCT in Taguig City! situated right in front of SM Aura, this modern gem, easily bookable through Agoda, is like a cozy blanket on a cold day: a perfect mix of comfort and convenience.
As soon as we stepped into the hallway, we were greeted by a delightful scent, courtesy of the humidifiers. Thank you for the welcome that made us feel like we were walking into a fancy spa!
The room itself was equally inviting, complete with kitchen amenities and a convenient automatic laundry, making our stay incredibly hassle-free plus the staff’s warm hospitality added to the overall charm of our stay.
Overall, our stay at The Residences at BCCT was a winner!
The Bonifacio Civic Center Tower (BCCT) is a dynamic mixed-use development located at 6 McKinley Parkway in the vibrant heart of Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig, Philippines. - SM Aura: This iconic mall is a shopper’s paradise, offering a wide range of stores, from fast fashion to high-end brands. You can also enjoy world-class dining and entertainment options here.
This packed itinerary ensures a day filled with fun, shopping, and delicious food!
BGC Mall Hopping
What stood out to me the most was the food court. Each area had its own unique flair, making it a fun place to explore. In comparison to Uptown Mall and SM Aura, Mitsukoshi Mall has my favorite food court.
The variety of options and the overall vibe felt special, and I found myself particularly drawn to the dishes waiting to be discovered. It was like a mini culinary adventure, and I left with a strong craving to try more of what they had to offer.
Mitsukoshi Mall
- Unique feature: Incorporates traditional Japanese architecture and design elements in its food court, “Itadaki Food Court”, which sets it apart from other malls.
- Variety: Offers a mix of local and international cuisines, including Japanese options like Chibo Okonomiyaki and Ralph’s Wines and Spirits.
- Ambiance: Modern and sleek, with an open layout and natural light from the surrounding greenery and air-purifying plants.
Uptown Mall
- Feature: Part of the Uptown Mall’s overall upscale and modern concept, its food court offers a range of dining options.
- Variety: Includes a mix of casual and fine dining establishments, such as restaurants and cafes, but lacks a distinct theme or unique feature.
- Ambiance: Clean and well-maintained, with a focus on comfort and convenience.
SM Aura
- Feature: SM Aura’s food court is part of its larger retail and entertainment complex, offering a variety of dining options.
- Variety: Includes a range of local and international cuisines, but may lack a standout or unique concept.
- Ambiance: Busy and bustling, with a focus on convenience and accessibility.
In summary, Mitsukoshi Mall’s food court stands out for its unique Japanese-inspired design and variety of local and international options.
Uptown Mall’s food court offers a more traditional and upscale experience, while SM Aura’s food court is more functional and convenient.
Better Together
Today was a reminder that sometimes, the most enjoyable days are the simplest ones. No thrilling escapades or exotic locations, just good food, good company, and a little shopping therapy.
Exploring these places felt like a cozy escape from the world. Sharing a meal and laughter with Mike over pizza (Sbarro) and sinigang (Eat Pinoy), among others, created a warmth that filled our day.
Our trip to Mitsukoshi Mall was a nice experience, especially since it had just opened its doors three days ago on November 18. It was exciting to explore this Japanese-inspired space, even if it felt a little empty, with many stalls yet to be filled.
As someone who tends to be introverted and finds comfort in quiet places, I usually don’t have a strong affection for malls. The hustle and bustle can sometimes feel overwhelming.
However, with Mike visiting the Philippines, the opportunity to explore new places together brought a refreshing change of perspective.

Author’s Note
Today was a tiring day as we couldn’t help but explore our new place. We definitely walked a lot—well, we normally aim for 10,000 steps every day! It’s a good thing since I need to lose some weight too (lol!). Mike has been taking such good care of me that I’ve gone from a medium to a large, and I can’t help but joke about it.
Sometimes, I playfully ask him if he would leave me if I gained more weight, and thankfully, he always has the perfect answer, reassuring me that he loves me just the way I am. He gets an A+ in the reassurance department, that’s for sure!
And it’s not just about weight. Sometimes I ask him about other insecurities. Like, would he prefer someone with a bigger nose (mine’s quite small), or someone with fairer skin (I’m morena and proud!). But every single time, he assures me that I’m perfect in his eyes.
He also jokingly asks if I’d ever consider a nose job, but I always tell him “No, because I can breathe just fine, and that’s what matters.” (Lol!)
It’s moments like these that remind me why I fell for him in the first place. It’s not just about the fancy stuff or the exciting dates. Not only that, but it’s about feeling truly seen and appreciated for who you are.
